Facet's Sire: Olympic Vanitas
Olympic Vanitas created a sensation in the dressage arena with rider Annemarie Sanders, before an untimely death in 1993, and produced the famous sport horses Cartoon and Belmondo as well as two licensed sons, Facet and Caritas.
Vanitas talent for sport was not limited, however, to the dressage arena. He was a true all-round athlete.
Grandsire: Pretendent
Vanitas' sire, Pretendent, is one of the KWPN's top-ranked sires of all time, and has long shared top honors on the KWPN Dressage Breeding Index with his grandson, Facet, only recently having been dislodged from the Top 10 by the younger boys. He sired the licensed sons Vanitas, Vincent and Amarillo, and is the grandsire of Facet, Cabochon and Caritas.

Facet (#5), Vincent and Cabochon joined Pretendent (#13) in the KWPN Top-20.

Great Grandsire: Le Faquin XX
Le Faquin XX sired no less than 11 licensed sons, including the Keur stallion, Pretendent, giving rise to another 11 approved grandchildren. It is thus no exxageration to say that his impact on the Dutch Warmblood was significant, adding elegance and lightness to the breed.
Grand-Dam: Gonnie
Gonnie, Vanitas' dam, excelled both in sport and as a broodmare, receiving both the Crown and Preferent predicates. The Crown predicate is awarded to horses (mares, geldings or stallions) that compete internationally and that are individually listed in the World Breeding Federation's Top-200 rankings for Sport Horses. The Preferent predicate requires producing 3 or more Star-quality offspring.
