| On the reliability of the index: the more information
available, the better the genetic quality (=breeding value) of a
horse can be estimated. The reliability, printed with each breeding
value, reflects the amount of information available for the calculation.
If the reliability exceeds 60%, the estimation has a satisfactory
level of reliability. In the case of lower reliabilities, breeding
values can change relatively easily when new information is added. |
