Herzberg’s Top Performances

The 11 year-old Trakehner Stallion Herzberg (by the Elite Stallion Leonardo/Persaldo), licensed by the Rheinland-Pfalz-Saar, and bred by Anton Urnau of Saarwellingen, has assured his new home stable of positive headlines.  After many successes and placings in both dressage and jumping in Germany, Herzberg was sold to the Hoffmanns and Mrs. G. Walker in California.  “The best Trakehner that I have ever ridden,” was the exciting statement made by owner/rider Jennifer Hoffmann.  Next to many placings and winnings at the FEI level, Herzberg placed 13th in the United States for the Intermediaire I, and was invited as the reserve horse for the USET Intermediaire-1 Championships held in conjunction with the Olympic Selection Trials in San Juan Capistrano, CA.  Shortly thereafter, Herzberg won all 3 classes of the small tour at the CDI*** in Pebble Beach, CA with scores of up to 70%.  In Los Angeles, Herzberg was able to win the Intermediaire-1 Freestyle under lights at the dressage show “Cool August Nights” in front of a very large and excited crowd with a score of 72.34%.

Since the stallion has made such tremendous progress in his training, the first Grand Prix start is planned for the very near future.   The American Trakehner Association has rewarded the Elite Stallion Leonardo son with the following titles for his sports accomplishments: 2003 “Horse of the Year” at Prix St. Georges and Reserve Champion “Horse of the Year” at Intermediaire-1.

Herzberg is most likely coming to Germany in winter for some last training tips and some showing.

The first U.S. .born foal of Herzberg was rewarded with a Premium Award by the German Oldenburg Verband.
