Herzberg has an infusion of Trakehner lightness and "blood" clearly sought after in the modern sporthorse.
His lineage includes some of the most successful and proven bloodlines.
Herzberg's sire, the Elite Stallion Leonardo, is a excellent riding horse sire
with extremely good active gaits. Leonardo's progeny excelled at FEI Levels in
Dressage and Jumping in Germany. Herzberg's grandsire, the stallion
Virgil, was champion at his Keuring in 1974 and champion at his 100 day test in
Medingen, Germany in 1975. These bloodlines combined with Herzberg's dam Hetra, an elegant and typey Trakehner mare with strong sporthorse features,
brings legendary bloodlines like Persaldo and Hessenstein. With this solid
pedigree, Herzberg exhibits all the charm and glamorous movement one could wish
for! Herzberg's first foal crops show great noblesse and brilliance in movement. Herzberg passes on his remarkable character, lovely disposition, very
kind face, and great refinement. Herzberg also passes on his lightness of movement
with a very active hind end, enabling him to excel to the upper levels of any
Licensed in 1996 in Germany, Herzberg completed his 100-Day Performance Test in 1997 at Adelheidsdorf, Germany
where he excelled in character, temperament and rideability as well as movement.
Herzberg won the title Landeschampion of the 4 year olds in jumping in South
Germany with a score of 9.0. Dr. Dietrich Plewa, the judge at the competition commented as translated from German: "A 4 year-old that you couldn’t expect better
from! A wonderful bascule, magnificent roundness of the neck and back, beautiful leg technique, great potential for uphill, ground-covering canter, in beautiful
contact with the rider’s hand. He continued to keep the beautiful flow and expression through to the end. It is certainly not exaggerating to give a score of 9.0,
and with that we introduce our new 1997 Landeschampion of the 4 Year-Olds!"
Herzberg went on to win many ribbons in Materiale and Young Horse Dressage and
Jumping classes in Germany.
After his arrival to the United States, Herzberg was very successful in
Dressage classes up to the International CDI-W*** level. In 2003 Herzberg
won numerous Prix St. George and Intermediare I classes with scores into the
70's. In 2003, Herzberg was named ATA Prix St. George Horse of the Year
and 2003 Reserve Champion ATA Intermediare I Horse of the Year. In 2004,
Herzberg finished the year with scores up to 73.750% including a winning
champion sweep at the 2004 Pebble Beach CDI***; securing the first place finish
in Prix St. George, Intermediare I, and the Intermediare I Freestyle. Due to his
phenomenal performance, Herzberg won the Pebble Beach CDI***Highpoint Perpetual
Trophy and won the 2004 USDF HOY Intermediare I ATA Award. In 2005, Herzberg won
his first Grand Prix at the Festival of the Horse in Burbank, Ca. Then at
the Rancho Murieta CDI W***, He placed 5th in the Grand Prix and 3rd in the
Grand Prix Special which earned him his first World Cup points. Herzberg
ended up 14th in the USET Grand Prix rankings in 2005 in his first year at Grand
During his first year at stud, Herzberg produced two highly placed States
Premium and Elite mares for the Rheinland Pfalz-Saar Verband in Germany.
Herzberg consistently throws Gold Premium Champion foals both in the US and in
Germany. In 2003 a daughter of Herzberg was named Premium mare in the US
by the RPSI Verband, and a Premium Gold Medal colt was imported from Germany to
In 2004, 100% of Herzberg's foals in Germany received Premium awards
from multiple Verbands. As the first US foals made their debut in 2005, a
colt out of a Figaro x Goldtern x Luciano mare became GOV inspection Site
Champion, capturing the Premium Award. At another inspection,
Herzberg proved his worth once more with another Premium colt out of a Rubicell
dam. He has sired many Verband Elite and State Premium Mares for the RPSI
Verband in Germany and also sired Verband Premium Champion mares here in the
United States with multiple Verbands. Through all of his foals, Herzberg's brilliant movement with his
exceptional activity of the hind limbs comes through. All of Herzberg's
foals stand out in their beauty, presence and temperament. In 2006
Herzberg's offspring once again claimed 100% premiums status. In 2009, High
Definition, a stallion prospect sired by Herzberg competed in USEF 4 year old
Dressage classes winning with high scores. Another son, Redhawk's Harmony
qualified for the Region 5 Championships. Success
