What people are saying about German Dressage!

My wife, Sarah, and I have been in training with the Hoffmanns since the summer of 2002.  We were first referred to them to help Sarah find a new dressage horse--the first of three splendid horses we ultimately acquired over time with their assistance. Jürgen and Jennifer are a wonderful team, who are equally gifted at instructing riders at the Grand Prix level as well as riders at all lower levels--and at training horses with the same range of skills.  What is the most impressive to us, however, is the level of their commitment to all riders and horses in their care.  We can think of no other trainers with such a passion and caring for their work.

Jennifer and Jürgen are masters of their craft and have produced amazing results with “ALL” of my young horses. And every word is true!!! I cannot thank them enough for all the wonderful work they have done with/for my animals and my education as well.

I learned so much. I had a major breakthrough with Payton. I know that we will continue to grow and learn now that I have a good understanding of one of the key, basic components, contact.

Thank you all so much for the opportunity to ride at such a lovely facility and for the excellent coaching. My horse was in such improved balance! Enough of this feeling lasted until our show last weekend where we won the Dover Medal 2nd level class. I was thrilled. I also want to thank all your sponsors for the great gifts and the delicious lunch.

Both the Hoffmanns used classical principles and the training scale in all the lessons that I watched, and I learned from watching the other lessons. Thank you again for including me in this event.

I have been a client of the Hoffmann's since 2001. They are truly equine training experts and have always provided the best of care and training for my horse. They settle for nothing but the best in shoeing and medical advice for our horses and this has proved to be invaluable. I feel lucky to be at a barn with trainers who are willing to work with all levels of riders and horses from young horses to Olympic riders.

I originally came to RLA in 2005 for layup and rehabilitation of my injured horse. When I saw the high quality of correct training, the beauty of the facility and met the wonderful clients, I knew I had found "home". Jürgen and Jennifer Hoffmann not only helped me bring my injured horse back from a devastating injury, they helped me keep him sound and compete him successfully through 2nd level . Since then, with the help of the Hoffmann's, I have purchased a new and wonderful young horse that we will take up the levels together. Whether you just want correct training based on the Training Scale or you aspire to great success in the show ring, I highly recommend German Dressage!

The day in June 2000 when I met Jürgen Hoffmann was one of the most fortunate of my life. Through him, I found my first schoolmaster, and in him, I found a trusted business partner and friend. Since that time, I’ve had the pleasure of joining him on numerous buying trips to Europe and importing horses through him, and each trip has been a treasure hunt. We go with a precise budget and without fail return with far better horses than I ever expected. Three times, he’s found horses that have taken my daughter to national titles—horses I would never have believed I could have afforded, but he saw their capabilities—and more recently, he found a dream horse for me despite what seemed to be impossible budgetary constraints.

Furthermore, I would trust no one else with starting my young horses, and when I turn one over to his care, I have no need to supervise. He and Jennifer and their staff work meticulously according to the training scale, adapting the program to the individual horse’s needs and instilling confidence in even the shyest youngster. Every one of my young horses has turned into an outstanding amateur mount, easy to ride and without vices—and I owe it to the Hoffmanns training program.

In a world where relationships between trainers, horse owners and barn owners come and go like yesterday’s tabloid news, there’s a reason why the Hoffmanns have trained out of my farm since early 2001, and why our relationship can be expected to continue just as long as they remain in the business. There is no one I trust more—with my animals or with my friendship.

I have had horses in training with the Hoffmanns for 8 years. They have always treated and cared for the horses with the utmost attention and detail. They are very knowledgeable in all areas of horse management and ensure that all horses stay healthy and happy.

I especially value having several capable trainers on one team.  Collectively they are consistent about what I need to learn, yet each describes and coaches somewhat differently. As a result, I am better able to grasp concepts and discover feeling in the saddle, allowing me to consistently improve my riding - and have more fun!!

I knew I had a perfectly trained horse when my trainer, David Blake, told me, "You only have 40%, bump him up." So I nudge him with my heels and David says, "Now you have 70%, there is more in there."  The more I rev up the engine the lighter and more fun he becomes.  I will be forever grateful for this opportunity the Hoffmanns have given me.  I purchased Rondo (now 13 years young) a year ago and my dressage education has taken on a completely new meaning. I will compete Rondo in Prix St. George in 2009.  My entire purchase experience was so good that I purchased two horses from them!

The second horse I bought was a 4 year old stallion, Portofino, by their stallion Pik's Pride, out of their mare Elfentanz.  David just had to sit on him. It was a done deal, we had to have both horses.  The Hoffmanns don't just train wonderful dressage horses they breed them as well.  David says Portofino is not only talented, he has unbelieveable work ethics, he never lacks for trying.  David will compete him in the 2009 Young Horse, 5 year old division.
